The Government of Canada is fully committed to improving accessibility in all that it does, as cemented by the Accessible Canada Act that aims to make Canada barrier-free by 2040.
To support this, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will be consulting with persons with disabilities and their caregivers to better understand their experiences interacting with the CRA. Their feedback will inform the CRA’s first-ever Accessibility Plan that will be published by the end of this year. This plan will outline our approach for identifying, removing and preventing barriers across our programs and services, to ensure they can be easily accessed by all.
The consultation will open on April 21, 2022, and will conclude on May 31, 2022. There will be various consultation channels, such as virtual group engagement sessions, virtual one-on-one interviews and an online questionnaire. Participants will also be able to share their thoughts by phone 1(866) 217-7176 and by email CRAconsultationARC@rmdelaney.com.
We hope you will take the time to learn more and encourage your members who identify as persons with disabilities or are caregivers of persons with disabilities, to participate. We aim to hear from as many people as possible so that we can improve our programs and service offerings to all Canadians, however they choose interact with us.
