Are you looking for a new challenge to kick off 2025? Do you love the idea of helping people in your community? The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is looking for volunteers to help people with modest incomes and simple tax situations do their taxes through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) and the Income Tax Assistance – Volunteer Program (ITAVP) in Quebec.

By volunteering, you’ll help individuals access benefit and credit payments that can put money in their pockets. Last year, more than 18,000 volunteers helped approximately 850,000 people submit tax returns through one of the 3,520 organizations that hosted free tax clinics in Canada. As a result of these efforts, Canadians are entitled to receive more than $2.3 billion through refunds, benefit and credit payments. This success is due to volunteers like you who generously donate their time.

Are there different options for volunteers?

You can volunteer many ways, including in person at a tax clinic, through videoconference, by phone, or at drop-off clinics. Don’t worry if you’re not a tax expert. Volunteer training and tax software are provided. There are also non-tax-filing roles available, such as clinic coordination and scheduling.

How do you get started?

Visit canada.ca/taxes-volunteer to find out how to become a volunteer. If you’re in Quebec, go to revenuquebec.ca/volunteers.

Once you register, a CRA coordinator will contact you to get you set up and can help match you with an organization.

Don’t miss out on helping your neighbours and community members. We hope you’ll consider joining us!
